Chapter 4: After one year passes a young maid is sitting at her window early in the morning. She then witnesses a murder take place in the street below. A little odd shaped man whom is identified as Hyde beats a popular member of Parliament and one of Uttersons clients. The man is identified as Sir Danvers Carew. On the We learn that an ugly Mr. Hyde was witnessed in a brutal murder of a member of the english Parlement. On the dead body a letter is adressed to Utterson. The letter is read and Utterson accompanied by a police officer take a trip to Hydes house. A grim looking made lets them in, only to find a burnt checkbook and the bloody murder weapon. They divise a plan to catch Hyde withdrawling money however he vanishes.

Chapter 5: Utterson then goes to Jekylls house to find an unhealthy looking Dr. Jekyll on the floor of his Laboratory. He then claims that Hyde is gone forever and will never come back. Jekyll than gives Utterson a letter addressed to Jekyll from Hyde. The police look over the letter and determine that Jekylls hand writing is the same as on the note found on the dead body, and Jeykll has the same handwriting as Hyde... .
